Grant Cameron

Grant is a relatively new member of the Trethowans team, having joined as a partner in March 2015. Initially qualifying as a solicitor in 1990, Grant is an accredited specialist family lawyer, with accreditations in private law children and advanced financial provision. He also trained as a collaborative lawyer in 2007, and an all-issues mediator in 2010, adding a number of sought-after strings to his bow.

Grant’s experience in family law spans 25 years, and he has experience in dealing with a multitude of complex cases – divorce, dissolution, complicated Children Act proceedings, financial cases (which involve advising medium to high net worth clients), pre-nuptial and pre-civil partnership agreements, cohabitation agreements, change of name deeds and more.

Grant is also a member of Resolution, a national body of family lawyers committed to dealing with matters in a constructive and sensitive way. He is a member of the Hampshire Resolution regional committee, and was elected as a member of Resolution’s National Committee in 2012, such is his dedication to resolving family legal issues in a non-confrontational manner.

His work in family law has seen him described in Chambers as ‘an astute family lawyer who is prepared to think creatively’, and ‘everything you want in a family lawyer: he’s fair, calm and focused on the client’. Grant has also attracted praise in the Legal 500 for his ‘client focus and professionalism’.

Away from the office…

Grant is something of an amateur thespian – he regularly treads the boards in a variety of dramatic roles, from the sublime to the ridiculous (and sometimes downright hilarious). He is also involved in a range of community-based activities, and spends much of his free time out and about in the countryside.

Grant also names reading, theatre and cinema among his interests, and he also enjoys swimming, gardening, cooking and walking. But it’s not all play and no work – Grant attends the gym on a semi-regular basis to maintain his fitness levels.
