Family team acknowledged in industry guides

Last month The Lawyer acknowledged that Trethowans was the fastest growing Legal Firm in the UK with a turnover of less that £24m. Its net profit was up 27.2% with the Firm only one of three Firms in the UK 200 to produce turnover growth of 20% or more.

In no small part this has been down to the significant growth in recent years of the Family Team which has seen both its profitability and turnover double over this period.

In the recently published 2018 Guide by Chambers and Partners, the Trethowans Family Team is now ranked second, behind only one other regional practice, in the central south with its offices in Southampton, Salisbury, Poole and Winchester. Chambers and Partners go on to describe the Team as having a “robust finance and children practice” which offers both “collaborative law and mediation services”. The Team is also acknowledged for its “extensive knowledge of farming assets and inherited wealth” cases. Whilst having a wide spectrum of clients, the Team is noted for its representation of other professionals as well as the military.

In particular, Chambers and Partners recognises Head of Team, Andrew Mercer; a source saying “he is pragmatic and excellent to work with” as well as Grant Cameron for his “representation of high net worth individuals and family owned businesses”.

Elsewhere in the recently published Legal 500, the Family Team is praised for its “very professional conduct of cases and immensely supportive approach to clients”.

Andrew Mercer, Head of Team “combines being a great leader and motivator with being a first class collaborative lawyer” and is noted as being “a bright, practical and commercial lawyer” who “has the knowledge and ability to take on complex and high value cases” and is said to be “excellent with clients”.

Partner, Emma Wilders-Pratt “combines the perfect balance of strength and determination to get the very best result whilst being able to sensitively advise her clients on how to reach an agreement”.

Other partners, Grant Cameron and Juliet Mayhew are also recommended, the latter seen as a key contact when it comes to advising individuals with company or farming assets and handling cases involving trusts and inherited wealth.

Finally, Dawn Gore, who also assists Andrew Mercer is credited with having knowledge of children law that is “second to none” especially when it comes to dealing with child arrangements as well as internal and international relocation cases.
